John McCain’s “Lean Czar”? Mitt Romney!

There’s no more disgusting image of our federal government than the “pork barrel”, is there?  Good old PORK!  Our government is so incredibly fat, so morbidly obese that it sickens your heart just to think about the wasted dollars and wasted productivity of good, honest, hard-working Americans.  Real Cash that is flippantly discarded on pet projects and useless programs such as saving the East Kansan Yellow-Bellied Newt.  Ok, so I made that up, but you get the idea.

There is no easy solution.  Step one is to secure a charismatic Champion for a leaning out of the bloated system.   Who better than a Michelangelo of executive success such a Mitt Romney?  He’s got the track record (CEO, Olympic’s, etc.); He’s got the wits;  He’s got the charisma; and you better believe he’d have the passion to execute on a task like this one.

Lean government and a Lean Czar are winning concepts in the 2008 election season.  So far, the debate looks like it will be characterized by American’s frustrated by wasting their expendable income on needlessly high-priced fuel.  Now is the time for McCain to make a bold proposal like this one, and for the Republican Party to take the bold step of adopting lean principles as part of the party platform.  Truly limited government and low taxes are never going to be possible unless the funds are used efficiently.
